ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court has shown its anger and took serious notice of the government's failure to remove the chief of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry on Saturday issued a directive to the Registrar office to place a report submitted by the Secretary Establishment regarding contract employment of Waseem Ahmed before the bench in the week commencing from March 7.

The Establishment Division had submitted a reply in which it stated that although the DG FIA had been dissociated from the Pakistan Steel, National Insurance Company Limited (NICL) and Haj corruption cases, he was monitoring matters of national significance and therefore could not be immediately removed.

On March 1, the Supreme Court had directed the government to immediately remove Waseem Ahmed from the position of DG FIA for allegedly continuing interference in the Haj scam despite restrictions imposed by the apex court two months ago.
