RAWALPINDI, March 12: The District Health Department has started a precautionary fumigation campaign in the city’s union councils to avert outbreak of dengue virus in spring.
Dr Ansar Ishaq, district health officer (urban areas), told Dawn that the department was taking precautionary measures as the peak season for the dengue fever in the country is usually March and October.
He said the department was carrying out the campaign in areas where the cases of dengue virus have been reported during the last few years.
“We are concentrating on inner city areas where dengue virus patients were detected,” he said. Dhoke Kala Khan, Arya Mohallah, Kohistan Colony, New Amarpura, Satellite Town and Pirwadhai were worst hit localities in Rawalpindi.
