LAHORE: The Punjab government on Monday submitted its reply in the Lahore High Court (LHC) on a petition seeking the recovery of the missing families of Faizan Haider and Faheem, the two young men who were shot dead by CIA contractor Raymond Davis on January 27, DawnNews reported.

The reply was submitted by the provincial home secretary on behalf of the Punjab government.

The provincial government said it had no knowledge of the whereabouts of the missing heirs.

However, the court called for an explanation regarding a statement by Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah that the heirs were in Rawalpindi.

During the hearing, Deputy Advocate General Wali Mohammad told the court that Davis’ passport was in possession of the provincial government. He further said that the federal government had made the arrangements for Davis’ departure from Pakistan.

Mohammad said he was not aware if Davis was issued a new passport and said the court should make inquiries from the federal government in this regard.

Subsequently, Justice Iftikhar Hussain Chaudhry directed the Deputy Attorney General to present an explanation of Sanaullah’s statement in the court.

The hearing was then adjourned to April 1.
