
ISLAMABAD: The Upper House of the Parliament Friday strongly condemned two suicide attacks on JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazl-ur- Rehman and called upon the government to identify the reasons and perpetrators behind these attacks and other terrorist incidents.
The House unanimously passed a resolution and called for constitution of a high level investigation commission to probe the two suicide attacks and sought the report at the earliest. It also expressed sympathy with bereaved families and injured persons of the two terrorist attacks.
Chairman Senate Farooq H. Naek while condemning the two incidents asked the Leader of the House to conduct an inquiry into the attacks and submit the probe report in the House within a week.
Leader of the House Syed Nayyar Hussain Bukhari also condemned the incidents and expressed grief over loss of precious lives, adding that security officials were also killed in the blast. He said that the initial investigation report of one suicide blast has been prepared. He expressed resolve of the government to eliminate the menace of terrorism in all its forms and manifestation adding that the government is ready to give in-camera briefing to the member of the House on the current situation.
Minister for Inter Provincial Coordination Mian Raza Rabbani also condemned the two attacks on JUI-F chief and said that President and Prime Minister made a phone call to Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman and inquired about him.
He on behalf of the federal government assured provision of security to Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman.
Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haidari supporting the resolution said that Raymond Davis was an agent of US intelligence agency his release was followed by attacks on tribal elders on the other day. He claimed that there were many agents of CIA in Pakistan.
Raza Rabbani responding to Abdul Ghafoor Haidari said that the government of Pakistan also condemned those drone attacks on tribal elders and US envoy in Pakistan was summoned by Foreign Ministry to lodge protest.
He said Pakistan also boycotted a scheduled conference in Brussels in protest of those drone attacks.
Abdul Rahid Mandokhel said the main problem of the country was terrorism and all Pakistanis wanted to know who were responsible for these suicide attacks and terrorists activities.
He said there is a need to identify the perpetrators of the terrorist attacks and bring them to justice.
Haji Lashkari condemned terrorist attacks on Maulana Fazl and said that JUI-F Chief should summon Ulemas conference to convey a strong message to the people against suicide attacks and terrorism.
Zahid Khan called for unity and joint efforts to get rid of the menace of terrorism, adding that the government alone cannot eliminate this cure.
Naeem Chattha and Hafiz Rashid condemned the attacks called for change in foreign policy and pragmatic measures to curb such incidents in future.
Talha Mehmood called for independent inquiry into the terrorists attacks by a high level commission. The Interior Ministry should inform the House about the security measures provided to Maulana Fazl-ur -Rehman. – APP
