KARACHI: Pakistan's cricket selectors were on Thursday overruled by a medical panel that declared fast bowler Aizaz Cheema unfit after he was included in the squad for the upcoming West Indies tour.

The 31-year-old Cheema was among the 16-man squad announced Wednesday for one Twenty20 international and five one-day matches on Pakistan's tour to the Caribbean starting later this month.

But only a day later, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said its medical panel had ruled Cheema unfit.

“Cheema who was included in the T20 and ODI squad has been declared unfit by doctors and is being replaced by Sadaf Hussain,” the PCB said, without detailing the extent of Cheema's injury.

Medics previously overruled Pakistan's selection committee on the choice of another fast bowler, Sohail Tanveer, for a tour of New Zealand in January.

The 21-year-old Hussain is a left-arm medium fast bowler who took 64 wickets in Pakistan's premier first-class tournament last season.

The team leaves Pakistan on April 14 and plays the Twenty20 in St Lucia on April 21. They will also play two Tests on the Caribbean tour.

Pakistan Cricket Board should select players from all over Pakistan not only selected cities. Indian team have selected players from U19 team but Pakistan have been trying failed over age players. I think speed checking instrument should be available every where and at little cost, so all bowlers can also check their speed? Whatever happen no player should be selected when he cross 25 years of age. khan khankmk@yahoo.com

This is a good sighn for pak selector’s.hopefully pak give a chance some yuong opner batsman like Khuram Manzoor and middle order bastman like Fawad Alam and dropped Misbah instead. Fawad Alam is best fileder in the Pakian side and his demestic average is 59 which is great average for a player.

including of young sadaf is a good sign for pakistan cricket. i dont understand why pccb is going for over age players like cheema and salman. pakistan selectors are saying that they are looking for young players and they are picking over aged players.if they want to pick over age players its better they stick with present lot.

A very good sighn for Pakistan Cricket. Go for the young guns, and get help from seniors to mold them to become better players. We have Waqar and Aqib, also Mianad is willing to train. Let's hope. id Zaheer and Inzi can also come out of their closets, and help our very brittle batting line up.Insha Allah, very soon, we will be in top three teams of the world. alsodo not forget, we will have Amir in our bowling arsenal too. Aizaz cheema is much much better option for pakistan i saw saddaf hussain in pantangular match when he was playing from Federal area against Balouchistan his bowl very slowly reached towards the batsman if we compare wid Aizaz cheema he has much better pace and swing and variation as well

I feel Pakistan should groom new upcoming players and see their domestic games perfomance, but at the same time we caanot exclude experience players in the squad. Both the sets of p;lasyers are needed.

What a selection to build on the pretext of young team? Misbah a pathetic one day player without vision or aggression is selected for one days...VOW! Ahmed Shahzad poor performer as opener is back! The deserving young players are not included without giving any good reasons. The chief selector according to Sarfaraz must resign has some sense.
