LAHORE, April 6: The Lahore High Court on Wednesday directed the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to produce the record of the NICL scam against Muhammad Maalick, one of the accused persons and the manager of a company owned by PML-Q leader Moonis Elahi.

The division bench issued this order on a bail petition of Maalick and adjourned hearing till April 12.

Moonis is also on a judicial remand for his alleged involvement in the scam.

The FIA accused Maalick, former federal minister Habibullah Warraich, his son Mohsin Warraich and others of misappropriating NICL’s funds on account of land purchase.

The agency is to recover embezzled amount of Rs220 million, which Maalick allegedly deposited to the account of Mohsin Warraich.

Meanwhile, the same bench adjourned the hearing till April 20 on bail petitions of Hamesh Khan and Sheikh Afzal involved in the Bank of Punjab loan scam.

Flyover: A Lahore High Court division bench on Wednesday extended stay against construction of Kalma Chowk flyover and directed the Punjab government to file its reply by April 11.

Earlier, an additional advocate general on behalf of the government requested the court to withdraw the stay order, however the court asked him to file a reply first then seeks such a relief.

The bench on March 24 had provisionally barred the Punjab government from carrying out any construction work on the site of Kalma Chowk flyover, hearing an intra-court appeal which challenged dismissal of a writ petition against the project.

The bench, however, had allowed pile works on the site, observing that it would not environmentally harmful.
