KARACHI: Former Sindh Home Minister Zulfiqar Mirza said Friday that the MQM was behind his removal as the Home Minister, DawnNews reported.

Speaking to the media at the CM house, Mirza said that MQM Cheif Altaf Hussain had requested President Asif Ali Zardari to remove him from his post six times.

He added that target killings were taking place in the city to get him removed and that everyone knew who was behind the extortion taking place in the city. Mirza said that he had assured the businessmen that extortion will be eliminated.

To a question, Mirza replied that statements made by Interior Minister Rehman Malik should not be taken seriously.
