Abdul Qadir blasts team for big defeat
LAHORE: Pakistan spin legend Abdul Qadir has criticised the national team for their shock 10-wicket defeat in the fifth and final match of the one-day international (ODI) series against the West Indies on Thursday.
Despite losing the last two matches, Pakistan still won the series 3-2.
“No one could expect such a appalling performance against such a weak side [West Indies] and I was flabbergasted at the batting collapse. If I compare the weight of winning the series with the 10-wicket defeat, they are equal,” Qadir said.
The former chief selector also slammed the performance of captain Shahid Afridi, who mustered just 28 runs with the bat and claimed only two wickets in the series.
“Against such a low-ranked team the performance of the all-rounder is pathetic,” he said. “At no time Afridi [as captain] led from the front.”
Qadir added that he had already advised the PCB hierarchy to give maximum chances to the juniors in the West Indies series, while giving the seniors complete rest.
