to do that society intervenes in the aftermath of the crime so as to prevent the victum or those associated with the victum from more suffering by falling prey to revenge..hence justice is served by the society
by punishing the perpetrators of crimes even as heinous as those of the nazis…the question is whether justice was served…from a revenge point of view perhaps yes…the person who killed ends up getting killed but from a preventive point of view to prevent further such crimes iam not so sure ..because the evil within men will always find a point for justification of their crimes varying from race to religion etc
.will the germans commit the same type of crime again the answer is no..
but will someone else given the same power commit the same type of crime against someone else perhaps…will it happen in europe , will it happen in asia will it happen in africa or america nobody knows but the only way to keep checks and balances is to prevent anyone or any society from weilding absolute power…there should always be concurrent rather than retrospective checks and balances..no human civilisation should ever be allowed to commit crimes as heinous as those of the past
