BUREWALA: Nine people including eight members of a family were killed in a head-on collision between two cars on Chichawatni road, some 12 km from Burewala on Sunday.

According to police, Muhammad Yousaf along with his family members Muhammad Ashraf, Fozia Ashraf and six children were going to Lahore when their vehicle collided with a car coming from the opposite direction near Chak 409-EB. The gas cylinder installed in the car burst due to the collision and the vehicles caught fire.

As a result, Muhammad Yousaf (55), Muhammad Ashraf (35), Fozia (28) and five children Ashraf (3), Hamid (10), Shahid (8), Haider Usman (10) and Fozia (20) were burnt to death.

However, one Shifa (13) remained safe as she was thrown out of the car upon impact .

Another person Khalid of Gujrat riding in other car was also killed on the spot while its driver Pervez Akhtar sustained injuries.

The injured Pervez and Shifa were shifted to THQ hospital.
