KALAYA, May 17: Two soldiers were killed and another received injuries in a landmine explosion in upper tehsil of Orakzai Agency on Tuesday.

Security forces, in retaliatory action, pounded positions of militants in the area. According to unconfirmed reports eight militants were killed in the action. Officials said that security forces were patrolling Dabori area when a landmine exploded. Two soldiers identified as Basharat and Ajmal were killed in the blast, they added.

Security forces besieged the area and attacked suspected positions with heavy weapons. More than 30 rockets were fired at militant hideouts. An official claimed that eight militants were killed in the retaliatory action.
