ISLAMABAD, May 20: A man allegedly killed his mother for contracting second marriage in the capital's rural area on Friday, police said.

Sughra Bibi, 50, was alone at her house in Bhika Syedan when her son, MB, from her first husband came there and shot her. The boy's stepfather and half-brother survived as they had gone for Friday prayers. The attacker escaped after seeing the neighbours gathering outside the house.

When Shah Rasool, the woman's second husband, returned home he found his wife lying in a pool of blood. He shifted her to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Shah Rasool told the police that MB, who worked in a steel mill in Islamabad's Industrial Area, had been threatening him and Sughra Bibi ever since they married seven years ago.

The woman married again after the death of her first husband from whom she had seven children. The accused and his family hail from Narowal.
