KARACHI: Secretary General Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Liaquat Baloch has said that the establishment of a Islamic welfare society in Pakistan is direly needed to bring peace and development in the country.

Talking at a gathering in Karachi, he said the sit-in of Jamaat-e-Islami in Karachi on 4th and 5th June will be a strong message to rulers to break the shackles of American slavery.

Despite resolutions being passed by the assembly against US drone attacks, the attacks are still taking place, which is a big question mark on our independence and sovereignty, he said.

Liaquat Baloch said that there were enough resources in the country to sustain the nation. He said the nation has the capability to generate 19000MW electricity; however, due to the apathy of the rulers the country is suffering from hours long load-shedding, which is a clear example of corruption and mismanagement.

We have to get our economy standing on its own feet. The majority of leaders are corrupt and ready to sell everything for safeguarding their chairs. The economic condition of country is going from bad to worse by each passing day due to the foreign loans, said Baloch.

He said that on the dictation of World Bank and IMF,an anti-people budget is being formed which would further increase the difficulties of masses.

The JI leader questioned the rationale of military operations in your own country, in the tenure of a democratic government. He feared this flawed policy would create more distance among the people and their armed forces.

He said the JI believes in a peaceful and democratic struggle to reach its objectives. Liaquat Baloch said that the Ummah should stand against dictatorship and corrupt rulers, adding that it is high time to bring a revolution.
