QUETTA: Balochistan Assembly Speaker Aslam Bhootani resigned from his office on Friday and faxed the letter of resignation to Governor Nawab Zulfikar Magsi.

According to an announcement issued by the Balochistan Assembly Secretariat, Mr Bhootani made the decision after he returned from a visit abroad.

Mr Bhootani is said to have resigned because of differences with Chief Minister Aslam Raisani over some decisions the latter made about his constituency at the behest of the former speaker’s political rivals.

The announcement said that keeping in view the beauty of democracy Mr Bhootani decided to resign because it was better to part ways when allies lost mutual trust.
