TRIPOLI: Explosions shook the Libyan capital and its suburbs late Thursday as Nato launched a fresh wave of air strikes, an AFP journalist reported.
Three strong explosions shook central Tripoli at around midnight local time (2200 GMT). Other more distant explosions followed.
In the last two days Tripoli has been targeted by the most intense Nato air raids since the international military campaign against Moamer Qadhafi's regime began on March 19.
Government spokesman Mussa Ibrahim said that on Tuesday alone, 60 bombs had been dropped on Tripoli, killing 31 people and wounding many more.
The main targets for the raids included Qadhafi's residence in central Tripoli, the eastern suburb of Tajura and the road to the airport south of the capital, he added.
