COLOMBO: Pakistan’s Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Seema Ilahi Baloch, handed over to Buddhist monks on Thursday some relics from her country to be exhibited here as part of the 2600th anniversary of Buddha’s enlightenment.
The relics were handed over to monks of the Bodhingyana Asapuwa temple in Kaduwela, near here, in the presence of the Speaker of the Sri Lankan Parliament, Chamal Rajapaksa, the Most Venerable Kiribathgoda Gnanananda Thero and the Director General of Archaeology of Pakistan, Dr Fazal Kakar. In Buddhist lore, Pakistan is known as Gandhara Deshaya.
