CHITRAL is the biggest district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. With an area of 14,850 square kilometres, it makes up for 20 per cent of the total area of the province. But Chitralis have been meted out step-motherly treatment to by successive governments just because of their different ethnic background.

The Lowari Tunnel is the only worthwhile project that was launched by the then Pakistan People’s Party government of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto in the early 1970s.

It is disgusting to note that work on the project has been stopped for lack of funds. We remain cut off from the rest of the province for almost five months as the land route of Lowari Top is closed due to heavy snowfall. We are Pakistanis who need the  attention of the government. The Lowari Tunnel is our dream and it should not be shattered.
