KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain has accused the PPP-led government of conspiring against the armed forces, ISI and other security institutions in league with the United States.
“The conspiracy is aimed at ruining or weakening the institutions responsible for national security and harming the country,” he said while addressing a meeting of the MQM coordination committee held simultaneously in London and Karachi on Tuesday.
According to a press release, Mr Hussain also spoke about national security, self-respect, mounting US pressure and the government’s ‘conspiratorial behaviour’. He accused the government of indulging in ‘nefarious activities’ against its political opponents and the Muttahida.
He said the MQM, which had stood by the government in its difficult times and proved to be its strongest and most trusted ally, had now been stabbed in the back.
The MQM chief called upon intellectuals and analysts to inform people about the conspiracies being hatched against the armed forces and security institutions. The people, he said, should unitedly stand by the armed forces.
