In Thailand's northern border town of Chiang Khong the Kreung Tai temple runs a course to teach masculinity to boys who are “katoeys”, the Thai term for transsexuals or ladyboys. They have certain rules and regulations that novice monks cannot use powder, make-up, or perfume and act ladylike.
However, they have had limited success in their project and three of the six ladyboys who have graduated from the school are said to have embraced their masculinity, but the remaining three went on to have sex changes. - Photos by AFP

Buddhism is the best religion. No enticement of life after death or assorted goodies, no God, no Devil, no reincarnation, no nothing at all. Only emphasis on living a good and peaceful life, which resulted in contentment in this life itself. I wish other religion would incorporate some of Buddha's teachings...

Please compare one peopel with the other, oone country with the other, one religion with the other, but please, PLEASE . . . do not compare one religion with the people of another religion! That is not fair.

Buddhism is a respected religion and my comment is not intended for the sake of criticism. Still, this calls for serious thought as stake of child is involved here.
