MANSEHRA, July 18: Local leaders of Pakistan People's Party (PPP), Mansehra, are divided over the distribution of jobs from the quota provided by the People's Secretariat for the party workers, insiders said.

“The party's district president Malik Sohrab and Nadir Shah, nephew of a provincial minister, are distributing jobs among their blue eyed persons, while the workers who have rendered great sacrifices are being ignored,” said Munir Khan Swati, the Mansehra tehsil president, while speaking at the party meeting here on Monday.

The office-bearers and activists of PPP from 32 union councils of Mansehra tehsil attended the meeting, which was called to devise the future line of action after irregularities in jobs distribution surfaced here.

The PPP Mansehra chapter's office-bearers Munir Khan, Baba Mohammad Rafique and others alleged that Mr Sohrab and Nadir Shah were involved in sale of the jobs.

“Nadir Shah came to offer me a share in the sale of jobs from quota given to him by the People's Secretariat for the party workers, but I refused the share as the practice is against the philosophy of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto,” said Munir Shah.

They said that the party workers had rendered great sacrifices during the prolonged rules of dictators and now they were being ignored by the local ministers and district president.

They claimed that industries minister Syed Ahmad Hussain Shah and food minister Shuja Salim Khan had received the quota of about 600 jobs at the federal and provincial level, but not a single party worker had been appointed so far on these seats.

“We want to strengthen the party, but the ministers are involved in enhancing their personal benefits at the cost of party workers,” the tehsil party activists said.

Talking to reporters, the tehsil PPP president said that they had full confidence in President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and party's provincial president Syed Zahir Shah to end corruption in the party ranks and take steps for safeguarding the interests of genuine party workers.
