NEW YORK: In 1964, an enterprising 18-year-old snapped pictures of the Beatles' momentous first US concert in Washington, D.C.
On Wednesday, 50 silver gelatin prints he made from negatives of the event are being sold at Christie's auction house in New York City.
The images, plus photos from another Beatles' concert, are estimated to fetch a total of $100,000.
The Beatles played their first US concert on Feb. 11, 1964, at the Washington Coliseum, two days after their debut on ''The Ed Sullivan Show.''
Mike Mitchell, of Washington, was there shooting just feet away, even jumping onto the stage for the group's pre-concert press call. Among the highlights is a backlit photograph he shot while standing directly behind the Fab Four. It's expected to bring $2,000-$3,000.
