KARACHI: Sindh Governor Dr. Ishrat- ul- Ebad Khan Monday chaired a meeting of the leaders of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and Awami National Party (ANP).

The meeting held at the Governor House in Karachi discussed the prevailing situation in the city besides various other issues.

A statement said that the leaders of all the three parties agreed for undertaking concerted efforts for the maintenance of peace in the metropolis and stressed that action be initiated without any distinction against the elements involved in acts of violence and lawlessness.

The Governor called for    an atmosphere of unity and cohesion at the lower echelon making the efforts for peace in the city meaningful and carrying forward the process of reconciliation, democracy and stability.

He said that peaceful atmosphere is essential for the country's development and prosperity of the people.

The leaders of the three parties agreed that in view of challenges faced by the country and in the wake of the prevailing situation the entire nation should unite and that the spirit of brotherhood be fostered. This is also our prime mission, they added.

The PPP was represented by Rashid Rabbani, Najmi Alam, Waqar Medhi, MQM was represented by Abdul Rauf Siddiqui, Dr. Sagheer Ahmed and Sheikh Muhammad Afzal.

The ANP was represented by Riaz Gul, Rana Gul Afridi and Bashir Jan. Sindh Home Minister, Manzoor Hussain Wassan, Director General Rangers Sindh and IGP Sindh were also present at the meeting.
