PESHAWAR, July 30: Chief of his own faction of Pakistan People's Party Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao has rejected the newly promulgated regulation for tribal areas, terming it more dangerous for tribesmen than Frontier Crimes Regulation.
Addressing the elders of Bajaur Agency at his Hayatabad residence here on Saturday, he said that Action in Aid of Civil Power Regulations Bill 2011 for Fata and Pata would have disastrous effects on the country as people would have to face whatever fine or punishment was awarded to them by the administration.
He said that the tribal people were already grinding under the yoke of FCR but another black law was promulgated to increase their problems.
On this occasion Nawab Ghulam Nabi Khan, Nawab Shahen Shah Khan and Mumtaz Ali Khan along with their companions and families announced joining PPP-S.
Mr Sherpao said that militancy and terrorism had engulfed the whole country. The tribal people should be provided with all social and economic help as they suffered the most. He said that Fata needed drastic reforms to end miseries of tribal people.
He said that Fata reform package, which had been endorsed by all parties, was still awaiting approval of the president. He demanded that the regulation containing amendment in FCR should be signed at the earliest.
He said that operation was not solution to Fata problems, therefore, all issues should be addressed through meaningful dialogues. He demanded that local bodies' elections should be held in the tribal areas to promote democracy.
Mr Sherpao said that federal and provincial governments projected non-issues to divert public attention from real issues. He said that the stand-off between the government and judiciary was detrimental to the national interests.
