LAHORE, July 31: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan claims that his party has a long list of strong candidates belonging to both major political parties waiting for PTI tickets for the next general election.
He was talking to the media here on Sunday after opening 'Jaag Utho' - a virtual movement on social networking website facebook aimed at motivating the youth against 'oppressive' rule in the country.
He said Lahore, which was so far considered PML-N's citadel, would be turned into PTI's stronghold in the next elections.
“The PTI will rout Nawaz Sharif in Lahore even if he plays with his own umpires in the next elections," Mr Khan said.
Mr Khan said democracy in its present form in the country was a mere eyewash as the government was itself damaging the cause of democracy by violating the Supreme Court verdicts.
He demanded the apex court should charge the federal government with contempt of court for not implementing its 18 major judgments.
He said the people would stand behind the judges struggling to nab the 'big fish' to implement the rule of law without any discrimination.
He said the PTI would stage a sit-in at the Constitution Avenue every Saturday from Iftar to Sehr during Ramazan in support of the Supreme Court.
Mr Khan said the youth had decided to get rid of this corrupt system being patronised by the corrupt leadership as practically there were different laws for the poor and the rich. "Now, it's not a contest between right and left but a war between right and wrong," he added.
About the PML-N's announcement of 'waging a war' for implementation of SC verdicts, he said the PML-N should stop hoodwinking the people, rather it should immediately resign from all the elected houses, forcing the government to go for early polls.
About a future alliance with other parties and accepting politicians into his party's fold, he said he would himself go to clean and honest politicians like Jehangir Tareen, asking them to join hands with the PTI to oust the corrupt regime which had doubled the Pakistan's debt within three years.
Meanwhile, PML-N's Punjab government spokesman Senator Pervaiz Rashid says that in the next election the PTI chief would complete hat-trick of losing to PML-N workers in the provincial metropolis. He alleged that Mr Khan had been deputed to 'handle' Mr Sharif by PPP co-chairperson Asif Zardari.
