ISLAMABAD: “The legal fraternity is an important segment of society as well as system of judiciary, without their assistance and active participation, the goal of speedy justice to litigants at their door steps cannot be fulfilled”.

This was stated by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry while addressing a nine-member delegation of High Court Bar Peshawar, Abbottabad Bench headed by its President Malik Manzoor Hussain, M Junaid Anwar Khan, General Secretary and comprising other Executive Members of the Bar who called on him on Thursday in the Supreme Court Building in Islamabad.

Appreciating the efforts of legal fraternity during the lawyers' movement the CJP said that the bars struggled hard to support the judiciary for rule of law and supremacy of the Constitution. Due to the struggle of lawyers' fraternity, the independent judiciary was restored and this struggle is unprecedented in the judicial history of the world, he added.

The High Court Bar Peshawar Abbottabad Bench bar also played an active role during the movement, the CJP said.

Further, they discussed the problems faced by them in their professional field and informed the Chief Justice about delay in construction of the building of the Peshawar High Court, Abbottabad bench.

The Chief Justice of Pakistan assured them to take up the matter with concern authorities for early completion of the construction work.

The members of the High Court Bar Peshawar, Abbottabad Bench thanked the Chief Justice of Pakistan for spending time for them and raised his lordship's commitment and determination for the cause of dispensation of justice, rule of law and supremacy of Constitution.

They further, assured the CJP of full support and cooperation of High Court Bar Peshawar, Abbottabad Bench and to standby the judiciary in time of need.

The delegation also invited Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry to visit High Court Bar Peshawar, Abbottabad Bench,the CJP conveyed his gratitude, extended and assured to visit them at suitable time.
