OUR assets and entertainment spots have always been ignored not only by our governments but we, the citizens, have also played a key role in spoiling them.
Last week I went with my family to the Karachi Zoo where I saw injustice with the animals.
There was no water in the turtles’ cage and no food for ducks.
Visitors were throwing popcorns into the cages, while water seemed to have been there for many years.
Lions did not look healthy and some cages were even empty, which indicated negligence by the authorities. Many animals died due to these conditions in the past.
I suggest multi-national companies to adopt or bear the expenses of one cage and in return they should be allowed to use advertising material in the park and cages.
This will make living conditions better for animals there.
On the other hand, it will also give the companies a chance to market their products.
This way the companies will also fulfil their corporate social responsibility.
If multi-national companies are not interested, I request the government to privatise the zoo for the benefit of animals and the public.
