SHO summoned

LAHORE, Aug 6: An additional district and sessions judge on Saturday issued a notice to the Defence-A police station house officer on a writ petition of a dress designer who sought registration of a case against an adviser to governor, Zahid Bashir, for extending life threats.

Shahzad Ramzan, who runs his outlet “Marzi ka Darzi” in DHA, contended that Zahid Bashir’s wife had given him order to make dresses worth hundreds of thousands of rupees. He said when the dresses were prepared, Mr Bashir himself contacted him and asked to accept only cost of the dresses as his wife had given order mistakenly.

The petitioner said Mr Bashir also threatened him and impersonated as an officer of grade-22. In order to settle the dispute, he said, he accepted Rs84,000 from Mr Bashir as cost of the dresses and handed over the clothes to him.

Later, he said, Bashir started demanding the money back and hurled threats. He said he approached the Defence-A police SHO for registration of a case against Bashir but he refused to act on the application.

The police promptly acted upon the complaint of Mr Bashir and lodged a FIR against him and his wife on charges of committing fraud and not giving the ordered dresses despite receiving money.

Advocate Waqar A. Sheikh, representing the petitioner, requested the court to order the police to register a criminal case against Zahid Bashir for hurling life threats at petitioner and impersonation.

The judge, Malik Munir Ahmad, issued notice to the SHO and ordered him to file his reply by Aug 17.

Shahzad also filed a Rs20 million damages suit in civil court against Mr Bashir for defaming and damaging his repute by lodging fake FIR against him and his wife.
