LARKANA, Aug 16: Another group of 13 brick kiln workers hailing from Qambar town were freed from the captivity of human traffickers in Kandahar (Afghanistan). Their freedom was made possible with the efforts of Ansar Burney Welfare Trust (ABWT).

Talking to this correspondent from Chaman after their release, Sarim Burni, vice-chairman of the Trust, said that these workers were won over by human smugglers for lucrative jobs. They were handed over in Quetta to one Sarwar Jan who kept them in Kandahar.

Their freedom, according to Mr Burney, was secured with the help of influential persons of the area.

The freed workers boarded a Karachi-bound bus from Chaman and, hopefully, would be handed over to their relatives on Thursday, added Mr Burney.

The freed kiln workers included: Mohammed Nawaz Chandio, Zuhair Shabrani, Naseer Shabrani, Ghulam Ali Kori, Aslam Wako, Abdul Khalique Wako, Imdad Wako, Imtiaz Wako, Wali Mohammed Gopang, Khuda Bakhsh Gopang, Rajab Gopang, Irfan Gopang and Asghar Gopang.

Earlier, 17 labourers of the same town were released from Afghanistan and reunited with their families on August 4.
