PESHAWAR, Aug 21: Senior Minister and Parliamentary Leader of the ANP in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Bashir Bilour has said the federal and provincial governments would complete their constitutional term. He expressed these views while addressing a function after inaugurating a unique digital fountain at historic Jinnah Park. The fountain has been installed at a cost of Rs18.5 million in a short period of 8 months.
Technology for the fountain was imported from Spain, France, Japan and Germany and system is controlled through computer.
Those present on the occasion included among others Provincial Minister for Livestock and Cooperatives Haji Hidayatullah Khan, President Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry Usman Bashir Bilour and Director General, Peshawar Development Authority, Qazi Laeeq Ahmad Khan.
Bashir Bilour termed demands for holding mid-term polls uncalled for, saying, opposition parties would not succeed in getting the attention of the people through such tactics.
The senior minister directed increase in the number of lights for making the fountain and the highest national flag more attractive. He said though terrorism and floods had affected the development plan of the Peshawar city but now an era of development was being initiated. Mr Bilour said under a new plan better civic and communication facilities, traffic system, health and sanitation and drinking water will be provided to the residents of Peshawar.
The completion of the fountain, he said, would give special satisfaction to the people that the provincial capital had a place of entertainment, which is unique in the whole of South Asia.
He said those who were making hue and cry over no development schemes in Peshawar were proven wrong as development process had been initiated despite financial restraints.—APP
