ISLAMABAD, Aug 30: Unaware of the fact that CNG will be available throughout the week; scores of vehicles were seen lined up in long queues at the filling stations Tuesday afternoon.

“It took me more than one hour waiting in this heat to get CNG,” said Mohammad Nasir at a station in Super Market.

“The most serious problem will be faced by drivers of public transport vehicles as almost all the taxis and wagons operate on CNG,” said Mohammad Daud, a taxi driver waiting in a line at a station in Rawalpindi. “I expect good business on Eid and the following days but to run taxi on petrol is not viable,” he added.

Like most of those waiting in the queue, Mr Daud did not know that the government had already announced its decision not to close CNG stations in Punjab up to September 4.

“Those who want can have their CNG stations operational on Eid and the following days,” said Raja Wasim, member of the All Pakistan CNG Association, “However, there is no clarity regarding the loadshedding days after September 4.”

In the Potohar region, including Islamabad, CNG stations were facing loadshedding on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, but it was reduced to Thursday and Friday during Ramazan.
