ISLAMABAD, Sept 8: A man was taken into custody by the Secretariat police on Thursday for trying to enter the parliament house claiming to be an MNA from Sargodha.
Wearing Shalwar Kamiz and Kohati chapal, the man, in his late 30s, introduced himself as a member of the National Assembly and asked the security staff at the parliament house to clear his way into the building. On suspicion, the law enforcers demanded his identification but he could produce only his CNIC.
Later, during interrogation by the police, he identified himself as Mudasar Shehzad and a native of Faisalabad. He also told the police that he was an MNA from Sargodha and had come to meet Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rashid Ahmed.
When the police contacted his family in Faisalabad, they said Shehzad was missing since Wednesday night. They said he was mentally disturbed and his elder brother was also kept in a mental hospital.
The police sent Shehzad to a hospital for medical check-up. Its report was awaited.
On the request of the police, the family members of Shehzad are coming to Islamabad to complete some legal formalities after which he will be handed over to them. — Staff Reporter
