ISLAMABAD, Sept 11: An emerging band called Club Caramel rocked the scene at Kuch Khaas on Saturday night.

Originally Lahori, this was the band’s first public event in Islamabad although they claim cumulative 12 private performances in the city.

In a good turnout, the event managed to sell over 200 tickets which is good number for a small venue like Kuch Khaas.

The band is a two-person talent composed of Kiran Chaudhry and Adnan Sarwar. Originally, the two gained a fan base for their private performance and covers of famous songs. However, as the two developed musically, they got more involved in producing their own music.

Their first song, Zindagi, was released on March 24, 2011, while the next one titled Tere bin is set to come out by the end of this month. They have chosen this unique method of gradually releasing their music instead of creating a lot of hype and releasing an album with a bang that dies down quickly. Thus the concert only had one original song in their lineup and the rest were all covers.

When asked what makes them stand out, Adnan and Kiran replied that it was their approach to music that made them special. Adnan explained they were not pursuing music to become a big hit rather they wanted to build a loyal fan base.

Adnan and Kiran emphasised they have done the hard groundwork that goes into being successful performers and musicians. They surround themselves with the best musicians and personally take care of everything from composing the songs, video production, setting up concerts and event management. “We personally came and helped put up the lighting system for the show between eight thirty and nine,” the two explained.

The strength of this duo is in being such humble perfectionists. They are not afraid to get down and dirty to ensure that everything is done right; however, they bring a lightness and jolliness to their concerts that make them good performers. Most of all, they are good musicians, and even though they came to Saturday’s show pretty tired from their hectic routine, they proved their talent in a good live performance.

Adnan and Kiran have vision, and the ability to impress an audience in a live performance. It is worth following them to find out if they will be able to pull together their vision and bring something new to the Pakistani music scene.
