KARACHI: Pakistan's trade deficit widened to $1.842 billion in August from $1.486 billion in July, the Federal Bureau of Statistics said on Monday.
The trade deficit was $1.272 billion in August last year and totaled $3.328 billion in the first two months of the 2011/12 fiscal year, compared with $2.784 billion in the same period a year earlier.
Exports increased to $1.964 billion in August, from $1.738 a year ago, according to the bureau. Imports totaled $3.806 billion in August, up from $3.010 in August last year.
