RAWALPINDI: The Lahore High Court sought on Tuesday comments from the federation and the judge advocate general of Army's General Headquarters by Sept 26 over their refusal to give the certified copies of the trial proceedings of a military court to convicted persons in the GHQ attack case.

On August 12, the military court convicted seven accused, including two army personnel and five civilians, for the 2009 attack.

Justice Sagheer Ahmed Qadri of the LHC Rawalpindi Bench issued directives on two identical petitions filed by Wajid Ali and Aqeel Ahmed through their counsel Col (retd) Inamur Reheem and Tariq Khan, Advocate, while admitting them for regular hearing.

The counsel for the convicts informed the court that the judge advocate general (JAG) of Pakistan Army refused to give them the certified copies of the trial proceedings of the military court.

The petitioners said they submitted an application to the JAG on August 17 to provide the copies of trial proceedings to move the court against the decision of the military court.

The petitioners said they received a letter from the GHQ in which the JAG refused to give them the trial proceedings of the military court in writing and said they would only be allowed to read the documents.
