KARACHI, Oct 3: The CID police on Monday claimed to have arrested five suspected assassins and seized weapons found in their custody. According to the CID anti-extremism cell, Ali Akbar alias Shahid, Abid, Imran and Ali Ahmed alias Ganja were arrested during raids in Pak Colony and Baldia Town.

It claimed that the suspects also confessed to have killed 17 persons.

The cell’s chief, SSP Chaudhry Aslam Khan, said the suspects belonged to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement and its rival Mohajir Qaumi Movement (Haqiqi) and were involved in the killing of members of the rival group.

He said they also confessed to their involvement in nearly 15 cases of robberies.
