GHALANAI, Oct 11: About 380 families on Tuesday left the Nahqai IDP camp for their homes after 'restoration' of peace in Mohmand Agency.

The returning families belonged to Suran Dara, Mettai, Koz Chinari, Ghanum Shah, Khazena, and Shamshah villages of the Bezai tehsil along the Afghan border. The security forces claimed clearing these areas of militants after operation.

Officials said 2,722 families had so far filled the voluntary return forms (VRF) and their repatriation to their hometowns will be completed in three days in the fourth phase. They said 6,000 displaced people had returned to their homes in the previous three phases.

Assistant Political Agent, Bezai, Maqsood Hassan told media persons at Karkano area that the government had established its writ in these areas.

The returnees were being provided free transportation, food and other goods for next three months, he added.

Mr Maqsood said survey of the destroyed schools, health centres and houses would soon be launched. He said reconstruction work would be completed after the survey.

Representatives of the IDPs said the government should reconstruct their destroyed houses and provide them seeds and tractors to help them cultivate their barren lands.
