LAHORE, Oct 26: An additional district and session judge on Wednesday issued notices to the DIG (Operations) and the Islampura station house officer on Ayesha Malik’s petition seeking registration of a case against some policemen for keeping her in illegal detention along with her teenaged daughter and also subjecting them to torture.

Ayesha Malik, who is daughter of PML-Q leader Ahad Malik, through her counsel contended that she was a housewife but political opponents of her family dragged her into a bogus criminal case.

She said despite securing bail from a court of law in the case, the police officials, including inspectors Zulfiqar Cheema and Attique Dogar, abducted her along with her daughter from outside the sessions court.

She alleged the policemen humiliated them, slapped their faces and also tore their clothes before bundling them into a police van. She said the policemen took them to the Racecourse police station where they were severely tortured.

Ms Malik alleged the policemen snatched from her $2000, Rs10,000 in local currency, a diamond ring worth Rs2 million and a wristwatch worth of Rs1 million.

The petitioner further alleged that the policemen forced them to sign on blank papers and threaten them that both of them (the mother and daughter) would be subjected to rape if they did not obey their orders.

She prayed to the court to order the Islampura SHO to register a case against the policemen involved in their illegal arrest and inhumane treatment meted out to them in the police station.

The judge, after hearing the contention, issued notices to the police officers for Oct 29.
