MIRAMSHAH, Oct 30: US drones fired missiles on a vehicle in North Waziristan on Sunday, killing six people.

Officials said all those killed in the attack were militants, but local people said they were tribesmen who had nothing to do with militancy.

Official sources said the drones fired six missiles on the vehicle in Doga area of Dattakhel tehsil, about 15 kilometres east of Miramshah.

Local people rushed to the place and retrieved six bodies.

Meanwhile, three security personnel suffered injuries when their vehicle hit a roadside explosive device planted by militants on a road near the Gora Qabristan in Miramshah.

The vehicle was part of an FC and army convoy which was going to Bannu from Miramshah. The injured personnel were taken to a medical camp in Miramshah. Security forces cordoned off the area after the blast.

Later, they blew up a house along the road, imposed an indefinite curfew in Miramshah, Mir Ali, Dosli and Razama tehsils and started a search operation.

Agencies add: A US drone fired two missiles on a vehicle as it drove through a village near Datta Khel town, security officials told AFP.

“Four militants were killed in the attack,” one official said.

The attack destroyed the vehicle, the officials said, adding that at least two other militants were wounded, including one critically.

At least 10 militants were killed in two US drone attacks in Waziristan on Thursday, including the brother of a local Taliban commander.
