
KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain said that his party wanted peace and stability in Afghanistan because the Afghans are brotherly neighbours and the MQM had complete sympathy with them.
He said this while talking by telephone to a delegation of Afghan journalists and Pashtun students at the International Secretariat of the party in London, said a statement issued by MQM on Wednesday.
The delegation had come to thank Altaf Hussain on his article about Afghanistan and the Pashtun people. Altaf Hussain said that the MQM wants peace and stability in Afghanistan so that the Afghan people could live a peaceful life.
He said that there was an indissoluble bond of friendship and brotherly relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan. The unbreakable relation between the two countries was a reality that could not be denied, he noted.
Altaf Hussain said that the MQM wanted peace and tranquility in the South Asian region. It not only desired peace in Pakistan but also wanted stability in Afghanistan, he said.
He said it was in the interest of the people of Pakistan and Afghanistan that the brotherly relations between the two countries were strengthened.
He said other countries of the region would also get benefit from peaceful relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Altaf Hussain said that they wanted to bring harmony in the relations among various groups in Pakistan and the party wished to bridge the gap between the different communities in Pakistan.
The members of the delegation agreed to the views of the MQM Chief and assured their cooperation in promoting peace and stability.
