LAHORE / KARACHI: The Meteorological Department said on Wednesday that a deep depression over Arabian Sea had turned into a tropical cyclone that could generate widespread rain, heavy at times, along the Makran Coast on Thursday or Friday.
The cyclone named Keila is likely to hit the coast of South Oman on Thursday. None of the coastal areas of Pakistan is under threat from the cyclone. However, there may be some rain and thundershowers along the Makran Coast.Scattered rains/thunderstorms may also occur in lower Sindh, including Karachi and the flood-affected areas.
The Met department advised fishermen of Balochistan not to venture out into the sea for another two days because the conditions were likely to remain rough during the period. However, the fishermen of Sindh could continue with their activities.
The department also said the weather system over northern parts of the country could generate scattered rain, with isolated snowfall over the mountains, in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir on Thursday and Friday.
On Wednesday, Dir received 13mm of rain, Pattan 7mm and Parachinar 3mm, according to the department.
