KARACHI: Army and Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) recorded victories in the two Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) matches played at the Municipal Stadium in Rawalpindi on Monday.

Army beat Afghan FC 2-1. The goals for the winners were scored by frontrunners Shakeel Yousuf (55th min) and Sharjeel Masih (89th min) while Afghan FC’s striker Mohammad Hanif (75th min) reduced the margin for them.

In the other match, KRL beat Police 2-0 with the goals coming from strikers Mohammad Qasim (41st min) and Mohammad Shahid (85th min).

Meanwhile, Wapda had to present themselves only as a formality at the Railway Football Stadium in Lahore as they were quickly given a walkover along with a 3-0 win and three points against the now disqualified (due to their missing three matches in a row last week) Pak Elektron Limited (PEL) outfit.

The PPFL second division matches commence at the Korangi Baloch Stadium in Karachi from Tuesday.

Tuesday’s fixtures: PMC Athletico v HBL (2.30pm) at Agriculture University, Faisalabad; SSGC v GPA (12.00pm) at Korangi Baloch Football Stadium, Karachi; Pakistan Steel v PPWD (2.15pm) also at Korangi Baloch Football Stadium, Karachi. The last two mentioned are second division league matches.
