ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan Wednesday said that the memo issue is a sensitive matter and Husain Haqqani's resignation in this connection, would help conduct transparent inquiry into it.

Talking to APP, she said that the result of the inquiry would be made public and nothing would be concealed, and added that keeping in view the sensitivity of the issue, the media should report it responsibly and avoid speculations.

To a question regarding filing of a petition by PML-N in Supreme Court on “memo controversy”, she said that it was the history of PML-N that they always engaged judiciary in political issues.

She said Mian Nawaz Sharif has taken up the “memo issue” with judiciary after his failure against Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on political front.

The Minister said that PPP has always respected the judiciary and committed to upholding supremacy of the Constitution and law.

She said the Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has already assured transparent inquiry into “memo issue” and those involved would be given a chance to explain their positions.
