KARACHI: Miscreants blew up the main line railway tracks in interior Sindh early Sunday morning using low intensity explosive devices, however, traffic was restored after repairs, officials of Pakistan Railways said.

The tracks were attacked  at the Hussainabad area near Hyderabad, near Nawabshah Railway Station and also at Mehrabpur in Naushero Feroze area.

“The blasts occurred one after the other at around 6 am to 6.10 am, and the traffic was restored for movement of trains by 8.30 am,” said an official of Railways at Karachi City Station where the main control room is located.

He said that the Karachi-bound Tezgam escaped the disaster as the blast on the down track occurred just one and half minute before the arrival of train.

The driver of Tezgam took immediate action and used emergency brakes to stop the train. Other trains heading up country were stopped at different stations, he maintained.

Police contingent and bomb disposal squad were summoned immediately to check for any more devices.
