KARACHI, Nov 28: The Tehreek Nifaz-i-Fiqha Jafria has said the government could ensure peace in the country by implementing a 25-point code announced by TNFJ chief Agha Syed Hamid Ali Shah Musavi before Muharram.

Speaking at a press conference at the Karachi Press Club on Monday, TNFJ Sindh chapter leaders Allama Syed Waqar Hasan Taqvi, Ammar Yasir Alvi, Syed Badar Ali Tirmizi and others condemned the attack on media men and burning of property.

They offered the government cooperation in arresting suspects identified by the police.

Responding to questions, Allama Taqvi said banned organisations active under new names, including Shia groups, were involved in terrorism and blackmailing the government.

He said despite assurances that the government had taken all necessary measures to maintain law and order only on Sunday two scouts were killed.

He said if peace had to be restored and terrorism curbed in the province, activities of the banned organisations would have to be checked strictly by not allowing them to operate under any other names.

He said if ‘the code of Azadari’ was implemented fully and the authorities remained in contact with Azadari cells set up by the TNFJ from provincial to Tehsil level and banned organisations were reined in, peace could be maintained in the province.

Allama Taqvi appealed to the Azadaran-i-Imam Hussain (AS) to keep an eye on miscreants, particularly on intruders wearing black clothes and indulging in damaging properties.

Some of the salient points of the code of Azadari, he said, were: the followers of all schools of thought would demonstrate love and tolerance to one another, respect all Mashaheer-i-Islam, avoid hurting the feelings of others and shun all prejudices. He said no one must be allowed to take the law into his own hand during Ashra-i-Muharram, radio and TV channels stop playing music, drama, and comedy programmes and project effectively the unprecedented sacrifices of the martyrs of Karbala, and political and religious leaders suspend their political activities.

Besides, he said, the May 21, 1985 Musavi-Junejo agreement be implemented. He said during Majalis and Azadari processions strict protective measures be taken and no hurdles created in the way of processions and no unconcerned person be allowed to intrude a procession. Before Majlis and start of a procession all vantage points be checked and cleared of dubious things, if any, and during the Azadari timings there should no loadshedding and standby arrangements be ensured.
