ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan on Saturday said PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif was trying to extract political power from the graves of PPP leaders after being rejected from Punjab.

Talking to various TV channels she said Sindh is the base of Pakistan People's Party (PPP) and people will not allow anyone to get political mileage by using the name of Benazir Bhutto.

People could not be befooled by shedding of crocodile tears.

She said due to prudent policies, political vision and wisdom of Benazir Bhutto, the disciples of a dictator having ambitions to complete his mission earlier, now compelled to visit her grave and admitting her vision.

Alas! she said, if “Mian sahib” admitted the wisdom of Benazir Bhutto during her life the democratic institutions could have been much strengthened.

“It may be noted that in the Charter of Democracy (CoD) it is clearly written that which ever party wins the elections would be allowed to complete its tenure. But in violation of CoD Nawaz has initiated trial of the grave of Benazir Bhutto,” said the minister.

“People very much know who is trying to harm democracy by using back door politics. And to achieve the goal - constitutional institutions are being used. Pakistan need unity and reconciliation to cope with external powers,” she said.

She said Nawaz had returned to the country due to reconciliatory policies of Benazir Bhutto. Nawaz did nothing for the people despite getting two tenures, she added.
