FAISALABAD: The SNGPL notification on suspension of gas supply for four days, from Dec 15 to Dec 18, has astonished entrepreneurs who were earlier assured of smooth supply of gas.

Earlier, on Saturday last the SNGPL had reviewed the four-day closure schedule and announced that the industry would get gas on Sunday.

The announcement of a three-day gas holiday was made by the SNGPL following protest rallies and a sit-in by industrialists and workers.

After the issuance of the new schedule, the Industry Bachao Action Committee, convened an emergent meeting in which they unanimously decided that industrialists would not observe the schedule and open their units.

The committee comprises representatives of Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Pakistan Textile Exporters Association, All Pakistan Textile Processing Mills Association, Hosiery Manufacturers and Exporters Association, Khurrianwala Industrial Association, All Pakistan Bed Sheets and Pakistan Textile Mills Association.

The participants said any kind of resistance by the SNGPL official would be dealt with and roads would be blocked in protest.

They said the government had promised four-day supply of gas weekly. However, again schedule of four holidays has been issued which was condemnable.
