ISLAMABAD: The Parliamentary Committee on National Security (PCNS) on Wednesday finalized a draft of its recommendations regarding 'new terms of engagement with the United States' after Nato strikes and the current security situation in the country.
Briefing newsmen after the meeting of committee held here at the Parliament House, PCNS Chairman Senator Mian Raza Rabbani said, “The committee has almost given the final shape to its recommendations regarding the Nato issue.”
He said that the Finance Minister would attend the meeting of committee on Thursday to present his point of view and respond to the questions of members while the secretaries of foreign affairs and defence would be invited to attend next Tuesday's meeting to give their inputs on the issue.
“If necessary, their view points will be incorporated in the final recommendations,” he added.
He said the final recommendations would be sent to the Prime Minister to present them in the joint session of Parliament and form a strategy in the light of these recommendations.
Replying to a query, he said that all the recommendations had been finalized with consensus and there was no descending note from any member.
“We carefully discussed 63 recommendations of our own committee, envoys conference and of the Ministry of Defence and the overall international situation,” he added.
Members of the committee including Senators Wasim Sajjad, Prof. Khurshid Ahmed and Ishaq Dar and Members of the National Assembly Munir Khan Orakzai, Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao, Syed Haider Abbass Rizvi and Sardar Mehtab Abbassi attended the meeting.
