LAHORE, Jan 7: Thoroughbred bay colt Formula One is fancied to sprint past the finishing line ahead of his rivals during the 19th Lahore Winter Meeting at the Racecourse here on Sunday.
Participating in the seventh race, the Ghaznavi Plate class V division III, Formula One will be going all out to register his maiden success.
He was beaten by Royal Impala on Dec 22 and should make amends this time although he is placed at the top weight at nine stones four pounds in weight scales.
Quick Return, Let Me Shine and Magical Time may fight for the places on the board The feature event, the Ghaznavi Cup has only seven runners in the sixth race of the racing order. Of them, on recent form and performance in races, three come on chance — Pretty Rain, Sweet Sarrow and Noble Act come in to reckoning in the same order.
Pretty Rain is from a very good bloodline, while Noble Act and Sweet Sarrow are never out of places in recently held events.
Mutajil Queen, Hidden Pearl, Danzero and Billoo Jani look good in the Trigo Plate class VI division I-A to be gone over the sprinting distance of 1,000 metres in the eighth race.
Mutajil Queen is a speedy customer who had finished second behind Quoas-e- Qaza on Dec 18 ahead of Danzero and Hidden Pearl, while Billoo Jani is a speedy horse always running ahead of the field irrespective of the weight he carries.
Enigma, Brave Zoia and White Money are the chance contenders in the ninth race, the Trigo Plate class VI division I-B to be gone over 1,000 metres.
Four-year-old Enigma and the five-year-old White Money are the faster ones and should battle it out for the top slot.
Enigma ran a very good race when winning in a run away style on Dec 22 and will be going all out to make it two wins in-a-row while White Money will be the leading challenger to make the colt’s task difficult.
Khurram Prince, a four-year-old colt, beaten thrice should at last be able to occupy the winner’s box in a big field of 17 runners in the final race. But he will have to face a strong challenge from Hope For All and Norfolk.The speed and courage of four-year-old colt Laraka Chalees would be tested in the fourth race since he carries a heavy weight of nine stones and six pounds. His main challengers could be Million Pound and Lucky Sohna with Mano The Jan.
Day By Day and Burraq are to battle it out for the third race in which a line-up of 16 contenders will be out for a close battle.
A card of 10 races will be gone through on Sunday with the first race to be held at 11:00am.
