THIS refers to editorial ‘Memogate and SC’ (Dec 3, 2011). It was a disappointment. Based on three points, it had only the first point valid; transgression of the Supreme Court into the parliament’s constitutional powers, thereby upsetting the equation of separation of powers.
That the content of the memo was not ‘treasonous’ was an astounding claim made in the editorial.
For those who have forgotten what the memo actually said, it in addition to many other things authorised unilateral American ground strikes on our soil.
The third and last illogical point essentially recommends the following: just because your potential killer couldn’t kill you, doesn’t mean that you should seek recourse against him. It defies logic.
