MANSEHRA: Work on 46 schools, destroyed in the October 8, 2005 earthquake in Torghar district, would be completed soon, said Provincial Minister for Haj Nimroz Khan.
Addressing a public meeting at Karor Mandakhel on Tuesday, he said that Chief Minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti was taking keen interest in promotion of education, particularly female education, in the remote and backward districts of the province.
He said that more than 80 per cent ghost schools in Torghar had been made functional and teachers were appointed there.
In the past women were not given due rights and opportunity of getting education but the ANP government was striving for educating girls and time was not far when literacy gap between male and female would be bridged, he added.
Mr Khan said that provincial government eliminated militancy and terrorism in the province and now the era of development and prosperity would begin.
"The government has sanctioned money for construction of bridge over the Indus Rive to link Torghar with Peshawar. People will move directly to Peshawar instead of Mansehra and other parts of Hazara," he said.
The minister said that work on may projects in health, education, roads, water, sanitation and other sectors was also in progress with the Rs4 billion package announced by chief minister for the district.
Mr Khan also inaugurated a water supply scheme and said that more than 16 kilometres long pipeline was laid to provide potable water to 0.6 million people of the district.
Meanwhile, Minister of State Sardar Shahjehan Yousaf has said that the ruling coalition will move a joint amendment bill on new provinces in the next session of National Assembly.He told a press conference here on Tuesday that the decision of moving the bill was taken in a joint meeting of the ruling partners.
